Le Méridien Lav hotel in Podstrana near Split won four prestigious awards at the 2009 World Travel Awards for Europe event held in Portugal on 17 October.

The awards, described as the "Oscars" of the global travel and tourism industry, revealed who was the "best of the best" in the region.

The Split hotel is the best in the categories of Europe's Leading Conference Hotel, Croatia's Leading Hotel, Croatia's Leading Spa Resort and Europe's Leading Casino Resort.

The winners of the 16th World Travel Awards were chosen by the votes of 165,000 travel agents in 175 countries worldwide.
